The art of Marilyn Rea, a native of Western Pennsylvania, is vibrant, colorful, and precisely realistic. This is evident in nautical scenes, wildlife subjects, nostalgic images, and landscapes. Her Down Home Art stirs memories of yesteryear, allowing the viewer to see what was, and she is well versed in many genres and mediums such as pen and ink, portraiture, airbrush and computer and graphic art designs.

 

 

Working primarily in acrylics, Rea completed over forty 4' x 9' murals for Sadecky's Puppets.  She has also done murals for churches, a twenty-foot wildlife mural, and sculptures and carvings for an international big game hunter.

She has hand  painted and repaired many violins and musical instruments for private collectors and musicians. The artworks are applied under the varnish, thus does not impair the integrity of the instrument making each a collectable artwork and playable instrument.

 

Artworks  exhibited in the Ninth Life Art Gallery, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Marilyn Rea Fine Art Gallery. and at the Kittanning and Butler Valley Dairy Restaurants, also artworks may be seen at many online galleries.  Art-Exchange has showed her artworks at New York International Art Expo Show. An award winning artist, Marilyn has shown in solo and group exhibits in the United States, and her work is included in numerous private and corporate collections.

Since 1967, Marilyn has been the owner/operator of  Ye Little Art Shoppe a graphic art studio, fine art gallery and in-house printing service.   Publishing limited edition giclee' prints on canvas or fine art paper of original paintings, limited edition prints of Digital art (artworks created by combing original art and photography and computer art), and  pen and ink prints..  Also Marilyn’s open edition color lithographic prints published by Raymond Greenburg Art and Lithographic Publishing  are available.
